Reevaluating history

Teenbeat Records #180 This has to be one of my favorite record company catalog items: Teenbeat Records Catalogue Item #180. The full account, and its relation to T-shirt news can be read here. What bothers me now is the fact that the doctor's name is Bryan Krakauer - the same as the neighbor in the series My So Called Life. So, I'm calling BS Crap on Teenbeat #180 and deem it a forgery.

Animal Collective Tour Dates, Panda Bear release date.

Dates!  Check out the news section at http://animalcollective.org/news/ for more updates but I, for one, can't wait!  Finally the Panda Bear record will be released and Animal Collective will be playing Coachella, select dates in California, and their website hints there are more dates and states to come.

Hopscotch Music Festival in Raleigh, NC

Posted on by Alexander Vijay Smith

We love North Carolina and we're so happy that this year, we get our own great music festival, the Hopscotch Music Festival September 10, 11 & 12, featuring Panda Bear, Broken Social Scene, Public Enemy and a zillion other bands.  If you've never been to the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham Chapel Hill), I can't provide a better excuse for you to visit.  There's also the upcoming Moogfest in Asheville, NC.  Moogfest features MGMT, Massive Attack and Thievery Corporation, and happens over the Halloween Weekend in a city of proudly freaky people.  Visit NC in 2010!

Festival Season

Posted on by Alexander Vijay Smith

2010 has been an exciting and busy year for Tannis Root.  When the large US festivals announced their lineups, we were happy to see so many of our bands performing. Coachella was a blast, and a very busy time for us because we had 18 bands perform! It was both exciting and hilarious to watch Beyonce and Jay Z, along with their entourage, travel in a fleet of 4 Escalades between the Coachella stages that were each about a city block apart. They seem to have great taste in bands, though. They went back-and-forth from one of our bands to the next: Beach House, then XX, then Dirty Projectors, then MGMT (It was nice to see that Jay Z wasn't angry at MGMT for mentioning in the NY Times, that when he sounded like he was eating crackers when he phoned asking for a track for The Blueprint).

Sasquatch, Pitchfork, and Bonnaroo all look exciting too. And we have a new festival starting in our own backyard: The Hopscotch Festival.  We're very excited about Panda Bear, Broken Social Scene, Public Enemy playing our City Plaza. And just announced yesterday are some great Hollywood Bowl shows.  Hopscotch Festival in early September and then a flight to LA for late September: September 26 7:30 PM Vampire Weekend • Beach House • The Very Best

Thursday, September 30 8:00 PM Hollywood Bowl Pavement • Sonic Youth • No Age
